Tampa guy - tampaguy - 02-04-2019 As my name implies, I am a guy in Tampa! I am not Jewish, but I have a heart for Judaism and love the history and Traditions. I am starting to attend a local Reform congregation and very much enjoy the journey. RE: Tampa guy - Baruch - 02-04-2019 Welcome tampaguy - Your first 3 posts are moderated for approval. You were a member before the forum was redone if I recall correctly? Correct! I have been and am searching out my path, but I have been content simply studying Judaism and attending services when I can. I hope to be more involved on a consistent basis with the Reform congregation that I have been looking into. I have had conversations with their Rabbi that were very good. RE: Tampa guy - searchinmyroots - 02-04-2019 Welcome back Tampaguy! RE: Tampa guy - Channalee - 02-04-2019 Welcome back, Tampaguy! As my welcome gift to you, I present you with a Jewish name that is an anagram of your screen identity: Amitay Gump = I'm Tampaguy Amitay (אמיתי): Hebrew name, meaning "my truth." The name of the father of the Biblical Jonah. Gump: I know you're thinking "Forrest." But Gump is also an Ashkenazic surname which is derived from the German/Yiddish name Gumprecht, which was used by Jews as a kinnui for the Hebrew name Mordecai. The name's association with the Biblical Mordecai was based on the name's meaning of "battle-bright."
