As my name implies, I am a guy in Tampa! I am not Jewish, but I have a heart for Judaism and love the history and Traditions. I am starting to attend a local Reform congregation and very much enjoy the journey.

Correct! I have been and am searching out my path, but I have been content simply studying Judaism and attending services when I can. I hope to be more involved on a consistent basis with the Reform congregation that I have been looking into. I have had conversations with their Rabbi that were very good.

But Gump is also an Ashkenazic surname which is derived from the German/Yiddish name Gumprecht, which was used by Jews as a kinnui for the Hebrew name Mordecai. The name's association with the Biblical Mordecai was based on the name's meaning of "battle-bright."
