Hair - sparrowsol - 06-23-2019

Other then taking the Nazarite vow, is it allowed for a jew to have long hair?

Hello Sparrowsol and welcome to the forum.

Just to let you know, the first 3 posts are moderated to keep out spam and bots.

It would be nice if you made an introduction as well!

As far as I know, Jews can have long hair and if I'm not mistaken, many do!

As far as I know, it's ok for a Jew to have long hair. However, when the new temple is built, the Levitical mishmereth ("guardians of the sanctuary") must have their hair cut short and not shaved.

"Neither shall they shave their heads, nor suffer their locks to grow long; they shall only poll their heads."
Ezekiel 44:20

So unless you are a Levitical priest guarding the sanctuary, there is nothing to worry about concerning having long hair. Just don't shave the sides of your head.

"Ye shall not round the corners of your heads, neither shalt thou mar the corners of thy beard."
Leviticus 19:27
