Jason can clue you in. I've been a long time member but I don't remember how it started! I know it crashed and burned a couple of years ago and had to be restarted.

Started as JHR Online (Joplin Hebrew Reading), then went to Jewish Hebrew Reading, then focused on confronting missionary claims, then an open forum for all Jews to engage each other and to provide information for questioners - from differing perspectives.
We determined from the beginning of the Hebrew Café that attempts to convert people out of Judaism are out-of-bounds. That's our basic history in a nutshell.
