Your favorite Jewish comedians deliberate & accidental - Alan_Boskov - 06-30-2021 I hope that nobody has any objections to levity. After having visited the Youtube subforum here, I woke up the next morning with the idea to post videos of some of my favorite comedy episodes from those who deliberately made people laugh, as well as those who may have accidently done so. I classify deliberate comedians as the typical Rodney Dangerfield and Don Rickles types. The consequential ones are Woody Allen of whom intends to reach an intellectual audience of which doesen't always find his material funny. I once sat in a room and watched one of his films (I'll go back and edit, as soon as I remember the film title), laughing through its entirety while the other person in the room laughed not even once ![]() Then there's Sasha Baron Cohen who appeals, through his films, to a more proletariat-type crowd. I classify him as an accidental comedian, simply because his literary college studies were of a more serious nature. Whether his British environment contributed to his talent for making people laugh or not is a matter for debate. Some of my all-time favorites were episodes of Dean Martin Roasts of the late 60s and early 70s: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rA07420OEr8 RE: Your favorite Jewish comedians deliberate & accidental - Dana - 07-01-2021 Thanks Alan for sharing some of my favorite people. The 60s and 70s also gave us Carol Burnett and Company, more favorites. Here is a satire or parody, (I'm not sure what the difference is) of a daytime soap opera called As The World Turns which many housewives took seriously back in the day. They've renamed and improved with their version, As the Stomach Turns. People did not take themselves so seriously then. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SwMUOUJSzBA https://www.facebook.com/FlashbackComedyVideos/videos/the-carol-burnett-show-mrs-wiggins-and-mr-tuddball/1589845677738105/ Tim Conway plays Mr. Tuddball and Carol Burnett plays his secretary Mrs. Wiggins. Here's one of her more tamer appearances: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-lEX6HI4Mew RE: Your favorite Jewish comedians deliberate & accidental - Alan_Boskov - 07-02-2021 Rodney had some great lines in this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b7RNf784IsQ RE: Your favorite Jewish comedians deliberate & accidental - Nooone - 07-03-2021 I enjoy the Three Stooges..The Cartoon "The House that Jack Built" {Jack Benny] and the Marx Brothers had some pretty zany attics...Such as with Gouncho and Harpo with a motercycle/sidecar...the one dustin Hoffman Movie I liked that was funny was "Isthar" about two incridenly untalented Singers who get trapped in a 3rd world.unamed Middle eastern Country.... RE: Your favorite Jewish comedians deliberate & accidental - Alan_Boskov - 07-03-2021 The house of which the Three Stooges built was one of their funniest episodes ever, IMHO. I used to think, this was entertainment for children, until I got older and watched these again and figured out that their humor was indeed directed at adults. The wives selected to them by each episode's screenplay was in itself hillarious. RE: Your favorite Jewish comedians deliberate & accidental - robrecht - 07-03-2021 Curly was by far and away the funniest of the three stooges. He was great at physical comedy. The Curly Shuffle was comic genius. RE: Your favorite Jewish comedians deliberate & accidental - Alan_Boskov - 07-03-2021 It depends on how one views their skits. Curly couln't be funny without Moe working him over. When in doubt, simply view their Hoi Palloi episode. RE: Your favorite Jewish comedians deliberate & accidental - searchinmyroots - 07-05-2021 Marx Brothers were my favorite growing up. You just have to listen to the genius in their jokes. Plus they were talented musicians as well, even though Groucho rarely played an instrument. RE: Your favorite Jewish comedians deliberate & accidental - Alan_Boskov - 07-13-2021 I tried watching the Marx Brothers, when I was a kid. I couldn't hold an attention span for whatever reason. Either because they were hectic or I couldn't follow their dialog. I suppose, if I watched them now, I could now follow their plot. Slapstick Stooges were comparitively always easy to watch. |
