Book of Exodus: Is there a significance in the Ten Commandment's particular order?

For example, why is the second commandement ("Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image"), listed way before "Thou shall not kill" or "Thou shall not steal"? It seems like deviating from the latter commandments would have graver consequences, so why would they be given last?
