You don't know where Atarot Airport is, do you? It's not in the Jerusalem region. It sit's in Area C of the West Bank (~10 km north of Jerusalem border). The US has a say in construction there due to the OSLO agreement. The US is going to say what needs to be said based along similar lines on how Ma'ale Adumim came into existence. Israel doing what they did then is no way close to a way a democracy is supposed  to act.
