Our Mission & History<\/h2>\n

The Hebrew Caf\u00e9 started out as a local group for teaching Hebrew in home groups from my local synagogue (United Hebrew Congregation<\/a>) in Joplin, Missouri. The domain was originally named Joplin Hebrew Reading Online (jhronline.com). Once I moved to Israel in 2007, I changed the name to Jewish Hebrew Resources, moving my attention to online instruction and focusing on Judaism and Torah teaching through Jewish Forums <\/a> (which has a specifically religious focus).<\/p>\n

After being in Israel for a while, the regular members of the forum agreed that we should change the domain name from jhronline.com (JHR Online) to thehebrewcafe.com (The Hebrew Caf\u00e9). Separate forums were built for Hebrew questions and study. We led groups through Ros\u00e9n\u2019s Textbook of Israeli Hebrew<\/span> and the Hebrew from Scratch<\/span> series, which focused on Hebrew as a means of communicative, especially the modern language.<\/p>\n

From the beginning, we have done all we can to provide instruction in Hebrew free of charge. We have an entire course posted on YouTube<\/a>, which everyone is free to use, together with some of the readings<\/a> from the same course. Further courses are priced at $300 (subject to change), but all released materials will remain free for use.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
