The last post I made about this was back in February. So, I\u2019m going to write really quickly now to let you know what we\u2019ve been doing and working on around here. Also, I\u2019d love it if you gave me some feedback about new things you\u2019d be interested in doing.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">It\u2019s been our recent practice to divide our sessions up into \u201cfirst hour,\u201d \u201csecond hour,\u201d and \u201cthird hour,\u201d as we do three hours on Monday evenings. These hours are 5:00<span style=\"font-variant: small-caps;\">pm<\/span>, 6:00<span style=\"font-variant: small-caps;\">pm<\/span>, and 7:00<span style=\"font-variant: small-caps;\">pm<\/span> (Eastern US), which correspond to 12:00<span style=\"font-variant: small-caps;\">am<\/span>, 1:00<span style=\"font-variant: small-caps;\">am<\/span>, and 2:00<span style=\"font-variant: small-caps;\">am<\/span> in Israel. I know that this isn\u2019t a convenient time slot for everyone in the world, but I\u2019m not sure what else I can do at this point.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\"><strong>First Hour \u2014 Reading Hebrew<\/strong><br \/>\nSince Simh\u0323at\u0331 Torah, we\u2019ve been reading through a single <em>aliyah<\/em> from within <em>Parashat haShavua<\/em> [<span lang=\"he\">\u05e4\u05bc\u05b8\u05e8\u05b8\u05e9\u05c1\u05b7\u05ea \u05d4\u05b7\u05e9\u05c1\u05bc\u05b8\u05d1\u05d5\u05bc\u05e2\u05b7<\/span> <span class=\"tr\">Pa\u0304ra\u0304s\u030cat\u0331 Has\u030cs\u030ca\u0304b\u0331u\u0302(a)\u02bf<\/span>]. Our reading schedule is posted online <a style=\"color: blue;\" title=\"Reading Schedule\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thehebrewcafe.com\/readings\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\"><strong>Second Hour \u2014 Translating into Biblical Hebrew<\/strong><br \/>\nUntil now, we&#8217;ve been using the second hour to translate from KJV-style English into biblical Hebrew using Weingreen&#8217;s&nbsp;<em>Classical Hebrew Composition<\/em> (Oxford, 1957).<\/p>\n<p class=\"\"><strong>Third Hour \u2014 Modern Hebrew<\/strong> (now using <em>Hebrew from Scratch<\/em>, book 2)<br \/>\nColton and I have been going through a set of textbooks intended to introduce students to spoken Hebrew. It&#8217;s been a great ride, and Colton has made great strides.
