Thinking a little more, it seems to make sense to start in Genesis. But since I don't have either copy yet, I'm not sure.(05-24-2019, 08:33 PM)Chavak Wrote: Actually, now that I think about it maybe we should start with Exodus. That is where Prager started, and there is probably a reason for it. (05-26-2019, 04:20 PM)Chavak Wrote: Okay, I'm for starting with Exodus. Makes sense to start at the beginning! Just thinking...Maybe we can decide by whoever has the same book? I have both (making the decision easier for me), but most people may only have one. So, if SMR and anyone else has Exodus only, why not go with that? In the Introduction, the author even says there is no real order to the commentary study other than what interests the readers. RE: Book Study-Prager's Rational Bible - Chavak - 05-26-2019 I can pick up either. SMR, why don't you chime in and let us know which you would prefer to start with? RE: Book Study-Prager's Rational Bible - Chavak - 05-26-2019 I just ordered both, they should be here on Wednesday. RE: Book Study-Prager's Rational Bible - searchinmyroots - 05-28-2019 I'm back! I was going to ask for the books as a Father's Day gift. But instead of waiting, I can order one and have them get the other. So I'll let the ladies decide which book to start with. Either one is fine with me! RE: Book Study-Prager's Rational Bible - Chavak - 05-29-2019 How about we start at the beginning then, Genesis? As soon as we get confirmation from Dana, I'll order the book. RE: Book Study-Prager's Rational Bible - Chavak - 05-29-2019 I just got mine from Amazon today, showed up a day early! Yes, Genesis is a good start with me too. It gives me time to compare some of Rabbi Fohrman's and Dennis Prager's comments. It is interesting to get different perspectives! RE: Book Study-Prager's Rational Bible - searchinmyroots - 05-29-2019 Thanks Dana! I'll try and order the Genesis book today. What are you reading that has Rabbi Fohrman's comments on Genesis? RE: Book Study-Prager's Rational Bible - Chavak - 05-29-2019 If anyone does not have the book, feel free to join in the discussion anyway! Many of the topics we are going to discuss are universal, no matter what edition of the Torah you use. |
