Yes, there actually is a reason and he states it in the introduction of Exodus. "The primary reason I began my commentary with the second book of the Torah, Exodus, and not the first, Genesis, is that Exodus contains the Ten Commandments, the most important moral code in world history, and the central moral code of the Torah. If people lived by those ten laws alone, the world would be almost devoid of all man-made suffering."

Just thinking...Maybe we can decide by whoever has the same book? I have both (making the decision easier for me), but most people may only have one. So, if SMR and anyone else has Exodus only, why not go with that? In the Introduction, the author even says there is no real order to the commentary study other than what interests the readers.

I was going to ask for the books as a Father's Day gift.
But instead of waiting, I can order one and have them get the other.
So I'll let the ladies decide which book to start with. Either one is fine with me!

Yes, Genesis is a good start with me too. It gives me time to compare some of Rabbi Fohrman's and Dennis Prager's comments. It is interesting to get different perspectives!

If anyone does not have the book, feel free to join in the discussion anyway! Many of the topics we are going to discuss are universal, no matter what edition of the Torah you use.
