Universities teach academic disciplines, not catechism, homiletics, apologetics, or religious bible studies. Ancient literary criticism is how an ancient literary work might be analyzed by its contemporaries, eg, how Aristotle in his Poetics might analyze Athenian tragedies by Sophocles or Euripides.
