Meaning of "I will be what I will be"

Thanks for the link searchinmyroots! The site didn't let me watch the whole video without signing up for an account, but I got the gist. Seems like they interpret the phrase as "I cannot define myself in a way that you will comprehend, so all I can say is that I will be what I will be." Is this an agreed-upon interpretation by most scholars on the subject, or is there plenty of debate?
