Were you able to hear the part where they go over the similarities between the Hebrew word used in Exodus 3:14 that is also used 2 verses prior in verse 12? That may be a link to a powerful hidden message of "the name". That G-d was there for us then and will be there for us always.

As for your question, I would say that may be one of the most agreed upon interpretations, but as is with Judaism, there is always debate!!

Doesn't discount one or the other, just provides food for thought.
