It does sound to me that not only do you feel closer in belief to Orthodox Judaism, but that this would be better for you.
Frankly, conversion is not meant to be "straightforward", and the thought behind this is that if the candidate is not willing to inconvenience themselves, or make sacrifices in their personal circumstances, this may indicate that they may not turn out to be committed following conversion.
You may therefore need to consider the difficulty you have so far encountered - as a test ...
Do also bear in mind that the object of the exercise is entry into BOTH the Orthodox Jewish religion AND Jewish people.
Some candidates may need to move during the conversion process, into an Orthodox Jewish community.
Make the appropriate action and I believe you will meet with an appropriate welcoming and indeed helpful, action in return.
