Iran's nuclear program received initial technology and support from the United States through the "Atoms for Peace" program in the 1960s, along with subsequent support from West Germany, France, and China. The US program provided Iran with a research reactor and other nuclear technology, while West Germany and France assisted with the development of nuclear power plants and uranium enrichment. Later, Abdul Qadeer Khan, a Pakistani nuclear scientist, also provided Iran with centrifuge designs and components.
