Why Israel is tagged as American-side?
#1
My experience with some men-of letters on the subject of international relations, and personal talks with people of numerous countries have given me this impression that Israel is considered almost the same as Western country by non-western people, and in that too belongs to American camp.

Why and how this has come to be so? Is it only due to America providing weaponry to Israel, and the inclination of America towards Israel after World Trade Center attacks?

P.S. : I don't know how my first message give you an impression of me, but to clear some of your doubts I'm not a westerner, do not belong to those 5 time praying guys, not a pseudo-Communist, and of course not an Israelite (in both sense of the word). I hope I shall be treated with respect here, and power holders shall not abuse their power.

Hello Knight_Hall,

You ask: Why and how Israel is considered Western and allied with the United States, and if this is due to U.S. arms sales to Israel and the 2001 attack on the World Trade Center by "al-Qaeda".

Israel is considered Western in character and is one of many countries allied with the U.S.

Some reasoning would be that Israel has an economic system typical of Western countries, and is a democracy. Therefore in this the U.S. security aid and the attack on the World Trade Center are not relevant.

One tends to wonder why someone has chosen to ask this type of question about Israel rather than about any other country / "Western" country.

Edit:
Does he for example, intend to also ask why the United Kingdom is considered Western and why it is allied with the United States, and if this is due to U.S. arms sales to the U.K. (https://www.statista.com/statistics/2485...y-country/) and the 2001 attack on the World Trade Center by "al-Qaeda"?

I am a Jew with US American and German citizenship. I am the only of my German family who lives in the US, all other Shoah survivors of my family live in Israel.
Israel has a western value system, is partially settled by Jews from European countries (like my family members), and seems to have values which settlers of non European countries seem to appreciate.
After all Theodor Herzel, a German Jew, was the founder of modern day Zionism. If Herzel would have had the saying, todays Israel would be another German speaking country. And Eliezer Perlman, who was born in the Russian empire, was the creator of the modern Hebrew, the language spoken in todays Israel.
Israel has a lot of European/Western influence, and my family members feel way more connected to Europe than they do to Saudi Arabia or any of the other Muslim countries.

Great answer Linde, and there is no "but" to it, either. I just want to point out an issue, which is that the "Palestinian" Arabs falsely claim the Jews are European invaders to the land of Israel, yet it should not be forgotten that the Jews arrived in Europe from the land of Israel and thus mostly, have Judean heritage !
Further, this ethnicity was indeed the basis of the Nazi genocide of the European Jews.

And this is a fact.  Most of my DNA is from the Levant and Northern Africa.  I have a bit of Iberian and some northern European DNA.  My family lived in Germany for several hundred years, but remained pretty much a people from the Levant (DNA  wise).

Because, my dear sir, Israel is geographically not a western country, and not western in origin (I hope we will agree that Africa doesn't count as "western" in the sense we use it).

Why only Jews were targeted? None of the Abrahamic religion was originated among European Whites, and all the major three were expansionary and practising proselytising.

Israel shares much of the ethos of Western countries.

By the way, I hope "dear sir" that we can agree Israel is not in Africa.

The Nazis did not target Jews because of the religion.  I was, if I may say so, because of our ethnicity.  As I wrote earlier, my family lived in Germany for several hundert years, but most of my DNA is still from the Levant.  We simply did not mix with the Germans we were living with.  The Nazis wanted to eliminate the ethnicity.  They did the same with the Roma people (know as Gypsies).
