Orthodox Chabad taking pictures
#1
When ever orthodox chabad workers visit my house they always want me to put on the tefillin and take pictures of me with them. Is this so they can show
the chabad organization that they have a congregation?

dman,

I've never heard of people from Chabad asking to take pictures anytime let alone when putting on tefillin. And I've had it done many times either on the street or in their "mitzvah mobile".

Why don't you ask them next time?

Actually, the practice of taking photos is not uncommon. That they want to take your photo each time is a bit unusual and I have to say that I have never known Chabadniks to go door to door seeking Jewish men who have not laid tefillin that day.

Chabad has for many years championed for increased observance of the mitzvah of laying tefillin. The photos serve as a p.r. device to encourage others to observe.

Is there a reason you seem to getting repeated visits from Chabad?
