I just found, and finished, an article titled ...

A Modern Orthodox maverick, Rabbi Asher Lopatin faces Orthodox disdain -- and support.

I had lost track of him and wish him the best in his new endeavors. In my opinion, the Detroit area is fortunate to have such a man.

“Open Orthodoxy is a new way of thinking,” Lopatin said in a 2017 interview with Orthodox Conundrum, a broadcast about being Orthodox in America. “It’s not a break from the tradition. I’m all for new understandings of our tradition, of what the Torah is telling us, but I’m against thinking it’s a change from what the Torah has told us.

 
Open Orthodoxy, like Humanistic Judaism, is something I wasn't familiar with before.  Both are intriguing.  Thanks for the article.

Channalee, I don't think I've ever watched this episode but you might like it, if you are curious about Open Orthodoxy.




Of if you prefer something shorter, you can watch Rabbi Shmuly Yanklowitz (also a part of open Orthodoxy) interview Rabbi Weiss. It's really quiet though, so you may have a little difficulty hearing it.
