  Righteousness
Posted by: George - 05-05-2019, 02:58 PM - Forum: Judaism General - Replies (2)

The Scriptures say:

Ecclesiastes - Chapter 7

20 For there is no righteous man on earth who does good and sins not.

Yet the Scriptures also say that Abraham and Noah were righteous for instance.

How do you explain this?

Thank you.

  Introduction

Hi, I'm Dohlman (as in Star Trek), as I'm a scifi fan and author. Although African American, I have Jewish heritage. I think back in the 1800s, Jewish men from Europe settled in the South and, due to racism, could not marry White women, and so married Black women. The name of my family reunion is the Hyman-Steinback Reunion. And, although Christian, I am an avid Bible reader and often have questions about the Jewish faith and people. Thanks for reading!

In Biblical times, did a proselyte consider themselves a member of the tribe of whoever 'recruited' them, or were they 'tribeless'?

  How was the Sabbath calculated?
Posted by: George - 05-01-2019, 10:10 PM - Forum: Judaism General - Replies (7)

How was the Sabbath calculated to land on Saturday by today's calendar?

How do we know that God did not start creation on a Wednesday by today's calendar?

Thank you.

  Arab world
Posted by: Iberian - 04-30-2019, 06:56 AM - Forum: Judaism General - Replies (3)

In continuation with the thread on Jewish safety and prousperous coexistance between Jewish people and the people of Iberia I would like to add a thread about the Arab world.
As you know because of the Palestinians and other arabs, Jews are in the prospects of attack by the arabs and the persians. Without the US Israel seems lost, however I will be positive my new Jewish friends and elaborate a safety plan. I dont want to offend you I just fell that this topic is worth discussing. If you dont want to be safe in my Homeland than you have to have a contengency plan if the US abandons you. As it is if the US abandons you and the arabs and persiansthen I feel that the jews should call for a Jewish crusade. This Holy crusade would call out all Crhistians to defend the Holy Land. And would result on the ultimate defeat of the arabs and persians. So what do you think?

Another question I want to make is why there is only a small amount of jews in Iberia, with it being an ancient jewry place I thought more jews would relocate there, the locals are kind people they know how to speak english and they welcome you back.
Can you tell me why askenasim, sephardim or mizrahi are not flocking in big numbers to sefarad?

  First question
Posted by: Iberian - 04-29-2019, 08:28 AM - Forum: Judaism General - Replies (7)

Sorry if I havent complied much to the first rules setup but I have a question as an Iberian I am most interested perhaps Sephardi affairs but will also participate in other discussions because I have much to know about jewish history. My first real real question to you guys is about the way a jew is created please dont take this the wrong way I am just curious. In my ideai think it is the Mother that makes the jew but is the classification of who a jew is so simple as that? Or are some more complications?
