I heard someone saying of a Jewish person: "seems like he 'got the news early' on that one" referring to what I'm not sure maybe a bible story. Is this some old cliche or something else entirely

The Hebrew language uses different words for "with them" in Numbers 22 verses 12 and 35.

Verse 12 uses the Hebrew word "imahem"

Verse 35 uses the Hebrew word "itam"

imahem means "with them mentally as well as physically, going along with their plans.

itam means "with them physically but not mentally. In other words Balaam could accompany them but not share their purpose or intention.

G-d was angry in verse 21 as Balaam went "im" them, in other words he identified with their mission.

But we see in verse 35, the angel of God tells Balaam to go "im" the men. That seems to be against what G-d originally wanted.

Balaam already asked G-d once and received an answer, why would he ask another time? Did he think G-d would change his mind?

G-d does not change His mind yet Balaam invited a second set of messengers to "wait overnight in case G-d changed His mind".

So was it really about G-d's answer, or did Balaam already not accepted the divine refusal?

G-d does not force His will upon us. When G-d speaks and we do not listen, He does not intervene to save us from our choices. That would take away our free will.

When reading the text, it seems as if the reason King David wasn't allowed to build the Temple was because he had "blood on his hands" as he said himself.

But was that really the reason, or does the text seem to state another reason? Let's look deeper into the verses to see if we can find out!

So there was a desire from King David to build the Temple as he expressed to the prophet Nathan saying the Lord had given him rest from all his surrounding enemies. And Nathan responded - "All that is in your heart, go do, for the Lord is with you"

But that very night G-d appeared to Nathan and informed him he had erred. Nathan told King David that G-d would establish a dynasty for him, but it would be his son who would build the Temple. No mention was given of King David being barred from building it due to his having shed blood.

So what is the reason then?

If we look at Deuteronomy 12:9-11, Moses tells the Jewish people -

9 - For you have not yet come to the resting place or to the inheritance, which the Lord, your God, is giving you. 10 -And you shall cross the Jordan and settle in the land the Lord, your God, is giving you as an inheritance, and He will give you rest from all your enemies surrounding you, and you will dwell securely. 11 -And it will be, that the place the Lord, your God, will choose in which to establish His Name there you shall bring all that I am commanding you: Your burnt offerings, and your sacrifices, your tithes, and the separation by your hand, and the choice of vows which you will vow to the Lord.

King David's initial proposal noted that he had vanquished the enemies which he thought to be sufficient. But if you look closely at the verse in Deuteronomy, it also includes "and you will dwell securely."

We see in I Kings 5:5  -

And Judah and Israel dwelt safely, every man under his vine and under his fig-tree, from Dan even to Beer-sheba, all the days of Solomon.

There is more but I'm trying (yes, believe it or not!) to keep it short and readable.

So this may be the real reason King David was not allowed to build the Temple. Because all that was written in Deuteronomy was not yet fulfilled. There had to be both rest from the enemies and dwelling in safety.

Now that I have sold my rental properties and sold my farm critters I am free to travel (well, I have seven cats but they are happy to be home if I am gone).
I have multiple trips set up in the next eight months:  England/Ireland  Uzbekistan   Argentina/Patagonia   Malaysia/Singapore/Thailand   and  finally Turkey/Greece


So I am looking for some exotic places to go visit, unusual places. Places maybe tons of people don't go to, if such places exist. Or places people have visited and really enjoyed.  
And before someone mentions it, I've been to Israel many many times. 

So any suggestions on fun, unusual places to go?  I especially enjoy learning about other cultures and history.

Forsyth always left two plot holes...for example Lamborgotti's fate..is always ambigious...its plain he does not survive...a clue is that in his biography its stated that he suffers from acute claustraophia of small enclosed places...and that a possible reason he "disappears"--is that he was captured and innured in a dungeon where he goes insane and is ultimating killed...another is that the unnamed mercenery writer in the book by his own admission writes for a living..blackmails Mason to obtaining a livelong pension....in return for his silence...about the part Mason had been in bringing coupde taut     Inronically Sir James Mason and his associates will probably become rich as they intended-only not as cheaply as they had planned since the book points out that while Bodi is the perfect figurehead government leader he commands no power among any of the groups of "Zangaro" [The two tribes and the immigrants].TC) In fact in real life as explained in the beginning of the book of western companies and African Heads of State Eadean would be sent back to Zangaro to make a usual Busineess arrangement for the mining of the Plantatin...The "General" would indeed furnish the manpower and Mason Co the equipment ..the only difference being the "General" would probably decline a "investment" donation to his personel account..although he would welcome a sizeable "donation" to the country treasury since his counties just about bankrupt anyway.... While Forsyth gives a "red herring" that Eadean will lose a chance of a fortune because of Bodi death...after all the epilogue says only that Mason and Eadean say nothing publicly about the Coup de tat..but never says that they didnt get rich..after all! Thus if Bodi became the new dictator he would be overthrown and killed (since Kimba was his only support); the country would collapse because of a power vacum and Mason would not get his hands on the Plantatin at all!

So how do you react to all this chaos in the world? Any suggestions on how best to weather the storm?

My ideas are: growing vegetables in the garden and in flower pots, looking for alternative energy sources, appreciating people more than before.
