| How to reclaim Jewish heritage |

My great grandfather(maternal grandfather) was a devout Jew. His manuscripts and journals reflect his fondness as well as the lineage. He grew up in Southern Poland and during WW2 he was responsible for smuggling Jews and other high profile targets out of the country. He's painted in his town's Cathedrals and has a museum in his honor. He was awarded the highest non-military honor by the Polish government. There are may tales of him risking life and limb to help move refugees out of the country.
Unfortunately during this time he had to hide his Jewish heritage for fear of persecution. He raised his entire family Roman Catholic/Secular and no one in the proceeding generations ever reclaimed the Jewish faith. They largely assimilated into the population and lived secular lives.
What steps can I take to reconnect these roots?

Opening a Museum on Sephardis |

Hello,?????
I consider opening a museum dedicated to Sephardi Jews and their history, culture and heritage. I've always been fond of Jewish culture, especially sepahrdi Jews...I've been doing some research online and I was impressed by the diversity and quantity of material I found, but disappointed by the fact that their history doesnt seem to be of much interest to many....Most Jewish museums I've visited focused mainly on ashkenazi and the few ones focusing on sephardi were disappointing, including the Musée du Judaism in Morocco and the World center for Judaism in North Africa in Jerusalem(Probably for lack of funds)...
So the Museum will be all about Sephardi, but there will also be a smaller area dedicated to non-Sephardi living in Muslim countries (Iran, Irak, ...I thought they were Sephardi but learned after deepening my research that they were Mizrahi)....It will be in Jerusalem and I might open other similar ones in Europe and the US....The only problem is that I'm not Jewish myself, my mother is Christian and my father is Muslim, (from Morocco) and that's him that introduced me to Jewish culture as a child (he had many Jewish acquaintaces in Casablance and Jews were pretty appreciated there).
My initiative's aim is to build bridge between religions, cause I find jews and muslims have a lot in common (hebrew and arabic are very similar) and a shared history, but the leadership of most arab countries destroyed our closed ties, and so does the narrative of towards Israel...But there are many (like my father and me) who regret the departure of Jews from North africa and reckon their heritage and positive influence in the region. So you do you think Sephardi would welcome this initative although I'm not Jewish? I plan to collaborate with reputable Scholars and I want to tell theit story as it is, without any complacency, because Arabs often claim that Jews lived peacefully with Arabs until Israel was founded, but that's not entirely true!!!
Kinds regards and Shabath Shalom!!??
Anissa

| Orthodox, Conservative and Reform Judaism and the Talmud |

At this point in history Jews are basically looking for reasons to believe in their religion- the conventional distinctions of orthodox, Conservative and Reform seem to have blended together, the only group with an actually distinct approach is the Karaites. The Reform Jews are supposedly out to reform Judaism, but this is not inconsistent with the myriad of additional commandments and stipulates issued by the rabbis over the years, and the radical textual relativism employed 2,500 to 1500 years ago to keep the Sadduceas and Karaites at bay were in many ways instrumental in justifying Conservative Judaism.
Whats more many of the arguments used to disspell Christian Missionary "arguments" also apply to the supposed authority of the Talmud and Rabbis- in fact, I abandoned Christianity after a debate with a Jew, but after only another month of talking to him I realised the same arguments he used to convince me that the New Testament was a hoax which relied purely on your having been raised to interpret the world as well as the text in just the way I was enable to make any sense of it at all also applied to the Talmud. When confronted he could not provide adequate responses.
In any case, he was Orthodox, and bemoaned the fact that Judaism is a dying religion, but did not realise that the kinds of arguments and perspectives necessary to salvage it have been historically marginalized- the gentiles have had to deal with waves of schitzophrinics from the jewish population for quite some time- Jaques Derrida clearly owed something to the Talmud. If Judaism is to survive, it must resort to the fringe movements, yet this poses a large danger of dissintegration, however I think that as time progresses all other alternatives will be gradually eliminated, eventually Judaism will be reduced to a cluster of fringe groups

| The Oral Torah |

If you ask a rabbi why we should care what the Oral Torah says, his response will be that we cannot rely on individual interpretations of the Old Testament, because people will do so based on their own biases, so we are encouraged to rely on the Rabbis and their Talmud entirely. When I abandoned Christianity following a debate with an Orthodox Jew I did so based on tales about how Judaism did not rely on blind faith like Christianity, yet when confronted with Karaite arguments he did exactly what Evangelicals do and pretended to have already won the debate while systematically reading-onto the text whatever interpretation was convenient.
